Sulhamstead Abbots
The scattered village of Sulhamstead Abbots lies seven miles southwest of Reading. The parish included part of the hamlet of Grazeley and the village of Sulhamstead Bannister. The River Kennet forms the northwestern boundary and the Kennet and Avon Canal passes through. It is on the main road from London to Bath. The soil is alluvium and clay. Nearly half the land was arable, nearly half permanent grass, and about a tenth woodland.
