Winkfield
The large village of Winkfield lies six miles from Windsor. The parish included settlements at Ascot Side, Chavey Down, Cranbourne, North Street and Winkfield Row, and part of Ascot. It is on the main road from Reading to Windsor. The soil is clay, loam and gravel. Approximately one third was permanent grass, one third woodland, and less than a twentieth arable.
